It may seem obvious, but photographing food while it’s still fresh is one of the best ways to make your food shots seem appetizing.
Cooked food should be presented and photographed as soon as possible because its attractiveness will vanish within five to ten minutes of sitting out.
This will vary based on the ingredients and method of preparation, but keep in mind that it won’t look its finest for long, even if it still tastes wonderful.
You’ll want to work quickly and get your shots before the food “dies” on stage.

To make it better, I topped the enchilada with green onions and Cotija cheese and garnished it with cilantro and lime wedges.
On its own, a pulled pork sandwich is dark and unappealing. If you’ve ever eaten one
(or a tasty and tangy barbeque sauce), you know the flavor is anything but boring.
Still, the colors in this photograph may be improved. As a result
I garnished the pork within the sandwich with freshly produced coleslaw, giving the image a vivid and colorful appeal.
Shrimp may be both colorful and delicious on their own.
However, if there is nothing to balance it out, it will be a sea of pink and white when photographed.
